aj² Fire Forensics was formed by David and Summer Cantrell in 2021. David is the President of the Company and handles the forensic consulting side of the business and Summer, a Doctor of Pharmacy, handles the office side of the business. aj² started as  means to grow a company with their strong work ethic and unique skill set and quickly blossomed as professional relationships in the industry sought to work along side the pair. Named for their children, Aydan, Jaxson, and Jorja, the duo hold tight to their core values and ethical and spiritual beliefs as they grow both their careers and their family. 

David began his public service career at the age of 18 with the Hackleburg Fire Department. Self driven and motivated to perfect his craft, he sought every ounce of training and education he could obtain. Holding certifications as a Paramedic, Flight Paramedic, Hazardous Material Technician, Fire Instructor,  Fire Inspector and Fire Investigator to name a few.  He also holds college degrees in Emergency Medical Services, Fire Service Management, and a Bachelor of Science degree from Liberty University.

David worked as the Assistant Director of the Marion County Emergency Management Agency from 2007 until 2013. He was the Operations Chief during the 2011 tornado outbreak and the rescue and recovery operations to follow. He was also involved in numerous committees and grant ventures in the years following the disaster, as the community and state recovered. 

David began his private consulting career in 2014 with a large nationwide engineering firm. His group later left the large corporation for a smaller one to form their fire investigative group from the ground up. 

David has developed relationships with industry professionals nationwide as he has traveled to more than three dozen states to assist clients with product and contract liability cases. 

The company has identified resources nationwide of seasoned professionals in most any caveat of the industry.
